Guided Access

A great accessibility feature on the iPad and iPhone is Guided Access!

Here are my Top 4 Reasons why you need to use Guided Access when working with children utilizing an iPad or iPhone:

1. You can keep a child locked into an app and not worry about them making a phone call or sending an email!

2.  A child with decreased fine motor skills may not be able to isolate one finger, what happens on an i-device when you swipe with more than one finger? You will either swipe into another app, open the search bar, or open notifications depending on the gestures that are set, again, Guided Access keeps the child in the app.

3. Some apps have in app purchases or settings options in the app, you can draw a circle around the areas you do not want the child to access and it will block them out.

4.  You can set time limits with a spoken warning and alarm (you can choose from a variety of sounds). This could be nice for center times or even a time away task choice.
